Role: Network Engineer

Rate: €300-€350

Location: Dublin

Type: 3-6 month

A blue chip multi-national based in Dublin is looking to bring a Network engineer into their small team, on initial 3 to 6 months contract. As a network engineer you will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, maintenance and support of network infrastructure. Exposure to data centre environment would be beneficial.

Day-to-day

- The position is for a network engineer to support all network infrastructure necessitating the need for a highly skilled all round network and firewall support technician.

- A good technical knowledge of Cisco switches and routers, F5 load balancers and Netscreen/Juniper firewalls is essential.

- A good technical knowledge of HP ProCurve switches, Cisco Content Engines, Blue Coat proxies, McAfee Web Gateway and other web products would be an advantage.

- The role requires extensive experience in troubleshooting network problems with experience in implementing, maintaining and supporting networks based on Cisco, Netscreen/Juniper and F5 products.

- The role combines elements of problem solving, problem management and rapid technical response with the emphasis on maintaining and improving operational stability. Ongoing reviews of the infrastructure with recommendations on how to improve stability are also required.

- Knowledge of monitoring tools and their use to deal with incidents as well as experience in using them to identify and prevent future problems is an essential part of the role.

- The successful candidate will be working as part of a global team and will be an escalation point for first line support teams. Demonstrable experience of working in a level 2 and 3 support team resolving complex technical problems is required.

Experience

- Network, Communications and Telephony Support

- LAN, WAN, IP and VOIP

- Cisco Networking including TCP/IP, IP routing, IP multicasting, DNS, routers and switches.

- Provide operational support for communications infrastructure & IP telephony

- Minimum three years relevant technical experience with Cisco technologies

- Configure & maintain routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs

- Windows 2008 Server R2 and Windows 2003 Server administration
