DESCRIPTION:

Seeking an experienced and capable technician to help deploy and support Linux based workstations and high performance computing software to provide basic to intermediate levels of technical support to users.

Install and configure new and existing software, and perform hardware and software upgrades.
Ensure computer systems are secure to company standards.
Provide technical support for users of workstations and other related equipment.
Troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems on above platforms.

SKILLS:
In-depth understanding of PC computer platforms and related network technology.
Good problem diagnosis and repair skills, general understanding of database concepts, and general knowledge of both Client Server and web-based application architecture.
Strong customer communication skills along with two to three years industry working experience in PC support and administration is essential.
Be able to work independently without direct supervision or as part of a team as needed.
Demonstrated ability to work in a very busy, fast-paced environment with the ability to switch seamlessly from task to task as priorities warrant.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Strong understanding of Intel based hardware
Experience with High Performance Computing scheduling software. (ex: LSF or Openlava)
Experience in computer clustering and distributed systems
Installing and configuration of complex software
Excellent understanding of Linux operating systems and System Administration skills
Basic understanding of IT service support activities, procedures and methods typically performed in larger enterprises
Ability to learn new technologies and systems.
