Description
My client, a major international operator, is currently seeking an experienced Senior GIS Analyst in Houston for a 12 month contract.The Senior GIS Analyst is a mid-level position and requires a minimum of seven years experience with GIS technology. The Senior GIS Analyst may be asked to take part in special project assignments, provide spatial data analysis, perform task automation using scripting languages or modeling tools, or mentor junior GIS Analysts and corporate users.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates should have at least seven years of GIS experience with the last five as a GIS Analyst or similar role
- Requires advanced GIS technical knowledge. Requires understanding of how to apply technical knowledge effectively.
- Works on less defined tasks, projects or segments of large projects that have clear objectives.
- Requires development of project plans for assigned projects or short-term schedules for accomplishing work of a small work unit and self. Incumbent in job understands project scope, logic, and economic aspects of project and sets individual, project or unit goals to meet objectives. Incumbent tracks progress of goal attainment and reviews status with management.
- Requires broader understanding of the organization, functions, roles, and responsibilities.
- Requires consulting outside information sources and colleagues in other disciplines to gather information, requires ability to influence others, to achieve objectives or cause action.
- Requires the application of knowledge, past practice and experience to relatively complex problems, which affect the asset teams. Incumbent in job offers recommended changes to procedures as situations dictate applies in-depth analysis of complex data to the solution of problems.
- Decisions are made within broad parameters. Difficult, complex, or unusual matters are usually referred to more senior authority, together with incumbent's recommendations.
- Incumbent works on tasks or projects that have medium-long term objectives that support the achievement of economic goals and are commensurate with knowledge and experience. Generally responsible for an entire project, including coordinating resources among departments, producing results and meeting economic goals.
SKILLS
- Understanding of exploration and production business.
- Advanced experience with ESRI Desktop products and other GIS/CAD & graphics drawing applications.
- Strong knowledge of cartography, geography, and spatial concepts.
- Experienced user of MS Access and developing knowledge of Oracle or MS SQL.
- Good analytical and creative problem solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with spatial and attribute data.
