The Role

Reporting to the Vice President, Engineering, the Mechanical Engineering Managerwill manage all aspects of the Mechanical Engineering group, supporting manufacturing and test engineering. S/he will also support customer installations and/or system debug at customer site as required.

Applicant must have experience in design of high speed rotating machinery, efficient heat transfer systems and packaging of high density power electronics. In addition to technical capability, applicant must have strong leadership skills to manage engineering projects and supervise mechanical engineering staff. Applicant must be able to perform effectively in fast-paced, diverse, and high-technology hardware manufacturing environments.

As an early member of our entrepreneurial team, we are looking for a collaborative, hands-on individual who is a team player; with good supervisor skills and, highly detail oriented.

Responsibilities
  • Manage projects and R&D Mechanical Engineers, support all aspects of Mechanical Engineering within R&D;
  • Support Manufacturing Department with prototype assembly systems;
  • Support manufacturing assembly of Products, and documentation of manufacturing processes;
  • Expert in mechanical design using Solidworks or similar CAD Software, with experience with document control and management of Solidworks PDM system or equivalent;
  • Support customer installations and aid in de-bug at customer site as required.


Requirements
  • BS with 7+ years or MS/PHD with 5+ years working in Mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
  • 3+ years engineering supervisory/management experience
  • Skilled in design of high speed rotating machinery/Electric traction motors/ electric machine tool spindles or similar
  • Experience with Automotive type documentation, Manufacturing processes and Production process tracking
  • Automotive Industry experience, especially with EV drive systems a plus
  • Expert with Solid Modeling with Solidworks or equivalent
  • Experienced with CFD and Finite Element analysis a plus
  • Strong analytic problem solving skills and dimensional tolerance analysis skills
  • Familiar with design with metric system units, dimensions and tolerances
  • Highly detailed oriented and organized with exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally as required
