One of our prestigious clients is currently looking for a Software Team Leader to run a small group of software engineers working on security and safety focused middleware components, for our range of mission critical communications radio products.

Reporting to the Head of Middleware, you will be part of a larger team of engineers working on radio handsets and infrastructure equipment, spread across a number of sites in the UK and abroad. All teams have the opportunity to design and implement new features required by our customers and markets. You will be looking to build on your existing experience in a role that will give you exposure to the full development life-cycle on product focussed projects.

Your responsibilities:
Team Leadership (Appraisals, motivation, technical arbitration, etc)
Technical Leadership (Feasibility, Architecture, Design and Implementation, Mentoring)
Working with Project Managers to plan and monitor software projects (considering resourcing, task dependencies, tool requirements, day to day reporting, etc)
Working with other Team Leaders to improve the effectiveness of our development environment (processes and tools) and the quality of our IPR
Hands-on implementation (Design, Code, Test)

Your skills and personal attributes:
Previous experience of Team Leadership
Some experience of planning software projects, or workpackages, using a project planning tool such as MSProject
Experience of day-to-day monitoring and reporting of software projects or workpackages (for progress and quality issues)
Thorough understanding of the software development process (theoretical and practical)
At least five years' experience of embedded software development
An interest in product security (e.g. encryption, tamper detection, threat analysis)
Enthusiasm and excellent communication skills to promote your ideas.
Good knowledge of the C programming language (C++ an advantage).
Working knowledge of MSOffice applications, debuggers, emulators, configuration management tools

Desirable Skills:
Experience of UML design is desirable but not essential.
Experience of a wireless telecoms standard or data networking protocols is desirable but not essential.
Experience of developing for an embedded Linux platform is desirable but not essential
Degree qualified or with equivalent practical experience.
Must be able to be Security Cleared
