Risk Consultant - Retirement Income

Purpose of the role

To provide risk oversight, advise and challenge to the First Line of Defence

To provide detailed knowledge and support to one or more of the regulatory guidance, liaison,
assurance, business continuity, information risk, operational risk, financial risk and change processes

To provide education and support embedding existing regulatory rules, relevant regulatory
development and external business standards to the business and Risk

To promote the formulation and provision of effective and efficient guidance or oversight to appropriate staff within business areas

To challenge the business in its approach to risk identification, quantification, mitigation and
management

To ensure embedding of and compliance with Risk Management, Model Governance and SYSC policies as well as risk appetites, management guidelines, external standards and policies

Essential

Experience

Significant experience of explaining the impact of regulation in a simple and effective way to senior
business managers.

Significant experience of analysing and interpreting complex rules and regulations and applying such
knowledge to provide solutions to business problems and issues.

Some experience of legal/governance > requirements
Experience of liaising, influencing and negotiating effectively with internal parties and external parties
Experience of developing policy/position statements to tight deadlines and/or significant experience in assurance activities

Experience in regulatory guidance and compliance environments

Knowledge
Detailed knowledge of industry best practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals
on the same field.

Detailed knowledge of Prudential products, systems and distribution methods.
Understanding relevant Statements of Principle and Codes of Practice
Detailed knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors
Detailed knowledge in one or more regulatory arena for example FCA/PRA, tPR, HMRC, ICO or DWP rules, legislation and guidance
Detailed knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislatory frameworks
Working towards relevant professional qualification (eg MBA, IORM, ACII, APMI) or equivalent
business experience
