Progressive Global Energy has been tasked with providing a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for our client in Kansas City. The position is immedietly available on contract as they will need an engineer to start before July 30th, 2014 . Our client is willing to offer the right candidate a permenant position after the first year.

The role:

The position title could be described as an equipment engineer specializing in refineries.

Candidate will be responsible for process piping design, hydraulic modeling, equipment selection and specification, and shop drawing review for industrial projects associated with refineries, power plants, and manufacturing and food processing facilities. Additional duties included preparation of data sheets, RFQs, technical bid summaries, and purchase recommendations for pumps, pressure vessels, tanks, and third party designed packaged equipment. Reviews mechanical equipment vendor drawings, and data. Interfaces with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers/designers. Prepares construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical equipment. Participates in the development of P&ID's, construction specifications, project schedules, project budgets, project staffing planning, and construction planning.

Executes complex assignments requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods. May develop and evaluate plans for major projects. May assess feasibility or soundness of proposed applications when data is insufficient or testing is advisable. May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports or project design assignments. Progressive design and project management responsibilities. Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.

Below is a list of qualifications the candidate must have:
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in refineries
  • Experience in mechanical equipment specification
  • Expert level knowledge of refinery equipment
  • Experienced in design, specification and procurement of tanks, process pumps, and piping.


The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be apart of the Wastewater Group, however you will be working on oil & gas projects, specifically refineries.
