Title - Research and Evaluation Specialist
Location - Leeds
Length - 12 Months (3 days per week)

Knowledge and Experience:
Advanced specialist knowledge of research and evaluation methodologies, preferably when applied to healthcare and service improvement, gained through practical and theoretical study
An experienced evaluator with an in-depth knowledge of the health, social care and wider care system in England
Evidence of recent engagement at a national strategic level delivering specialist research and evaluation expertise to a cross sector range of care delivery organisations, ideally in pioneer site localities
Strong insight on long term conditions management and the impact of care integration programmes, the clinical evidence base, key policy and guidance, the economic burden and impact on patients' quality of life
Significant relevant experience of successful practical application of research and evaluation techniques and methodologies
Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with multiple stakeholders, preferably in the public sector and/or research bodies
Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and individual provider and commissioning organisations
Member of relevant professional body
Experience in project management
At least 3 year's research experience in a health or social care setting
Experience of working independently with supervision and working as part of a team
Experience in people management
Experience in commissioning and contract managing external research and evaluation commissions
Skills and Capabilities:
Skilled in the planning and organisation of a broad range of complex activities or programmes which require the formulation or adjustment of plans or strategies
Able to evaluate and select appropriate analytical methodologies and apply these to a broad range of situations requiring interpretation and comparison of a range of options
Capacity to undertake literature reviews and critical appraisal in relation to a broad range of research methods including randomised controlled trials and qualitative research
Capacity to undertake research data collection and analysis, using a range of mixed method research designs
Evidence of relevant academic & research achievements, eg research reports, peer reviewed publications, presentations, other achievements
Capacity to manage & prioritise time, information & resources in an organised and systemic way and to work under pressure
