Data Base Administrator (DBA) (12 month Contract Role)
The successful candidate will provide a DBA duties to a leading Financial Services Organisation company wide.
Responsibilities
- Managing the company's database assets to ensure that they can be leveraged to support the corporate strategy
- Ensure database environments are continuously monitored to ensure stability of data infrastructure
- Coordinate problem investigation and resolution with system owners, infrastructure and development teams
- Provide leadership and strategic direction by fostering collaboration and best practices for database administration across the organization
- Assist in developing and testing Maintenance and BCP/DR plans for all key data sets with their respective owners
- Liaise with IT infrastructure to ensure that hardware is adequate for predicted growth and configured appropriately for performance
- Liaise with the development teams on development tasks that require DBA input
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Very strong SQL database administration skills (SQL Server R2/2012)
- SSIS/SSRS an advantage
- Demonstrable Very large Database Support (VLDB) skills
- In-depth understanding of hardware specification and configuration for SQL optimisation
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- Data warehousing experience and experience with high availability environments an advantage
- Experience with automation of common tasks
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Well organised, prioritised approach to workload
- Ability to work within teams in multiple time zones
- Education and Professional Requirements
- A university degree in a relevant field
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a DBA role
