My client, a leading medical device company in Illinois, now has a fantastic opportunity for an Embedded Hardware/Software Engineer on a contract to hire basis. This is an initial year-long contract with the potential to convert to a permanent role after the 12 month contract period. The rate for this position is between $30 and $55 per hour dependent on experience.

Job Description
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for Prototype Board bring up to prototyping which will include applying power, debugging the board and programming it with the preliminary software
  • About 70% of this role will be focused on troubleshooting and debugging
  • Coordinate multiple program objectives under aggressive time schedules
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third party vendors to complete documents while complying with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). FYI - training will be provided on company specific procedures.
  • This role will require a mix of new product development and on market product enhancements
  • Drive issues impacting multiple organizations to agreed resolution
  • Strong Presentation skills with ability to discuss with senior leaders


Skills:
  • Engineering degree or equivalent background with minimal 5 years experience. Familiarity with component and board specifications expected.
  • Strong Troubleshooting and Root Cause skills are necessary
  • Experience with Freestyle IMX Chip Set preferred
  • The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills and will be very team oriented
  • SOC development experience preferred
  • Technical Documentation
  • Ability to work on multiple projects is necessary
  • Experience in Word, PowerPoint, Excel; experience with DOORS or similar systems a plus.
  • Experience working with formal requirements and Quality systems for products and engineering projects.
  • Experience with Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA / FMECA) for electrical circuits and systems a significant plus.
