Description
Unix (Linux) Systems Administrator urgently required for an initial 6 month contract. Our client a globally renowned manufacturer that require additional assistance to install, configure, optimise & maintain their Unix systems and related infrastructure services.Essential Experience:
- Unix/Linux Systems Administration
- RedHat Linux within a distributed computing enviroment
- Data Security experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that are escalated from the ServiceDesk team
- Monitor and administer complex backups of company data, ensuring data integrity and restoration when required
- Ensure the successful integration of new vendor supplied patches and upgrades
- Provide technical expertise to other parts of the organisation in the design and review of new systems and applications and work with the Architect team on implementation
- Liaise with engineering groups to recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, availability, reliability, and performance. Influence their decision making where necessary.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records
- Carry out market research on hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts
- Liaise with other groups in projects related to the company infrastructure, whether it be from a design, research, implementation or testing perspective and provide their expertise
- Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports using existing reports and creating new ones as appropriate
- Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements
- Coach junior members of the team

Rate - Circa £300 per day
