MARKET ACCESS MANAGER

Contract - 10 months initially

MARKET ACCESS MANAGER- required to deliver sub-national market access objectives for the launch of a new product within the diabetes department of our client, who are a leading global pharmaceutical company. The primary function is to validate and where necessary refine the sub-national access strategy to ensure the client's pre launch product gains maximum and rapid access at and beyond launch.

Essential skills and experience:-

  • Experience of working within an NHS background
  • In-depth understanding of NHS policy relevant to all funding and access structures, policies, processes, objectives, needs and drivers
  • Experience of successfully working with senior NHS and specifically payer customers at a Regional & National level
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop partnership opportunities with a working knowledge of the NHS/Industry joint working arrangement and contractual business requirements
  • Experience of challenging and influencing others without authority, gaining agreement and understanding of sometimes unpopular viewpoints
  • Demonstrated resilience and tenacity and the ability to achieve success within a changing environment and deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in skill-diverse cross functional teams
  • Self-driven with a demonstrated ability to set and achieve own objectives
  • Detailed understanding of ABPI Code of Practice and its practical application in a business environment with particular detailed understanding of the constraints of pre-marketing authorisation do's and don'ts within the PMCPA code or practice
  • Educated to degree level or significant experience within Market Access

Desirable:-

  • Experience of working within the pharmaceutical industry

Key responsibilities will include:-

  • In line with a globally defined approach to launch readiness this role will deliver the prioritised market access activities for the pre launch of the product, which are currently defined as the development of the Payer Value Proposition and the defining and implementing of the sub-national Payer Stakeholder engagement strategy.
  • With support from appropriate departments this role will be expected to;
  • Consider the implications the product may have on the wider healthcare market
  • Understand the impact the changing healthcare market will have on the product
  • Understand how to prepare a positive healthcare environment which supports uptake of the product and support implementation of approved activities.
  • Communicate the 'value' of the product to the range of customers who influence uptake.
  • Be fully converse with the PMCPA code of practice and fully appreciate what can and cannot be actioned within the pre-launch phase of a drug life cycle.
  • This role will need to demonstrate understanding of the marketplace; the key stakeholders and influencers, their needs and objectives
  • Have a working knowledge of funding flows and how they work in the specific disease area relating to your launch brand;
  • Be able to show an advanced understanding of the likely scenarios and barriers you may encounter when trying to take your product to market.
