We are have a requirement with a Dublin based customer, this particular customer would be a brand name in Ireland within the industry in which they operate and have a vast presence across Europe.

As part of the ever growing demand on their services and expansion of their core business we are looking to hire a UNIX Administrator for an initial duration of 12 months.

The team you shall be a part of is part of the customers server support team and is tasked with providing 27/7 systems admin and support services for all UNIX Servers and associated infrastructure. The team primarily supports AIX on PSeries Servers on which they run mainly SAP/DB2 applications and some Oracle applications.

Key Responsibilities of the OSG Team are as follows:

  • Manage support mailbox
  • Monitor and manage application and system backups
  • Log and manage hardware/software support calls
  • AIX installs and updates to support core business requirements
  • Support and maintain PSeries hardware including firmware updates
  • Support and maintain Hardware Management Consoles
  • Performance monitoring and Capacity Planning
  • Application and server refreshes
  • Perform and support DR site Switches
  • Develop and maintain operational Korn Shell Scripts
  • Preventative maintenance tasks to ensure IT systems are operational and secure, and to prevent future incidents
  • Incident and problem resolution, maintaining the highest levels of customer satisfaction possible
  • Delivery of ad hoc unplanned changes
  • Provide and maintain project documentation to allow smooth transition of Projects into Support organisation
  • Customer communications

Experience Required:

  • Relevant degree with 2-3 years experience
  • Relevant AIX System Amin experience
  • Thorough understanding of PSeries environment including HMCs, Dynamic Logical Partitioning, Virtual IO, Processor and Memory Pooling
  • Relevant experience in implementing backups/restores on AIX using Veritas Netbackup
  • Relevant experience in using IBM XIV San and EMC SAN on AIX Servers
  • Relevant experience in building DR solutions on a AIX/XIV environment
  • Korn Shell Scripting experience
  • Perl knowledge advantageous.
  • UC4 familiarity advantageous
  • Excellent process methodology
  • Ability to problem solve and be proactive when faced with a challenge
