A leading public sector organisation is looking for a Engineer to join  their team on a 3 month contract. The ideal candidate will have experience within a similar role. There is potential for the contract to extend.

The Main Responsibilities

  • To design, implement, coordinate and programme engineering, environmental renewal and traffic management schemes
  • To assist in delivering quality services and advice to the public and other customers
  • To assist in the development of major regeneration proposals and multi-agency partnerships delivering locally focussed schemes.
  • Key Tasks

  • To design and implement engineering, environmental renewal and traffic management schemes in the Borough.  Including the investigation and evaluation of issues; arranging and/or undertaking surveys; preparing drawings, specifications and schedules/Bills of Quantities; the inspection of works onsite; and administrative and cost control aspects of all schemes.
  • To process Traffic Regulation Orders up to and including the drafting of necessary schedules for formal advertisement, and thereafter undertaking implementation.
  • To co-ordinate the consultation process on each scheme, in liaison with the relevant client officer if appropriate, including the production of all exhibition material and the attendance at public meetings.
  • To prepare briefs for the engagement of consultants for engineering and traffic management schemes. To monitor and review their performance.
  • To assist in the development of major strategies and regeneration projects, including the preparation of exhibition and presentation material.
  • To assist in developing policy in respect of relevant engineering matters.
  • To assist in giving advice on the engineering aspects of planning applications.
  • To keep abreast of latest professional standards and technical developments ensuring that service delivery, advice and practice complies with current regulations, guidelines and legislation.
  • To monitor and review performance of contractors.
  • To participate in corporate initiatives, projects and working groups, leading to the implementation of business unit and corporate decisions, including major strategies and projects.
  • To attend Overview and Scrutiny Committees, Panels and public meetings, and prepare and present reports as and when necessary.
  • To be aware of corporate human resource policies, including heath and safety at work, and the need to report any work-related activity that gives rise to personal, staff or public safety concerns.
  • To ensure that service delivery complies with current regulations, accepted professional standards, the policies and procedures and appropriate legislation (including legislation on equalities, health and safety and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults)'.
