Description

A large digital advertising firm are looking for a VDI specialist to design and implement a technical solution. The successful candidate will become the service owner, they will be responsible for support, scaling, improving services and adding value to the service longer term; a "go to person" for all things VDI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help define the company's VDI service offering.
  • Refine the delivery processes.
  • Develop a program of work to maintain, develop and enhance the VDI service offering, ensuring it is fit for purpose and relevant.
  • Provide a senior level of expertise in the facilitation of VDI solutions.
  • Suggest and implement improvements which will enable the company to deliver better VDI services, and reduce cost and complexity.
  • Ensure timely resolution of VDI issues as escalated by the IT Operations teams.
  • Ensure all designs and solutions are in alignment with Virtualisation architecture standards.
  • Ensure all VDI implementation activities are managed effectively through change and release management procedures, to ensure maximum availability of services.
  • Designs and documentation written to high standard.
  • Work with key stakeholders to improve technical standards and delivery processes.
  • Liaise with 3rd Party Vendors and Support providers to ensure timely and effective services.

Key Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge of the following:
    • VMWare Horizon Suite, vSphere and ESXi
    • Cisco UCS Compute
    • Cisco Nexus Networking
    • oWindows 7/Windows Server/RHEL
    • Powershell and PowerCLI
    • VMware vCloud Automation Centre, vCloud Director, vCentre, Capacity IQ, Orchestrator
    • Understanding of server architectures, including peripheral interfaces (iSCSI, RAID, Ethernet) and multi-processor designs (SMP).
  • Familiarity with systems management concepts, processes and standards; capacity/performance management and tuning; and storage and network management.
  • Consideration for the 'supportability' of a design whilst maintaining 'fit for purpose' requirements.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS).
  • Knowledge of load balancing technologies (hardware/software/clustering).
  • Knowledge of network concepts and technologies (routing, switching, subnetting, DNS, Firewalls).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio.
  • Basic Operating System skills (Linux, Windows Server)
