The successful candidate will work as a senior designer in a multi-disciplinary, multi-project environment performing a key role in the application of best practice in mechanical design for new products and maintaining standards of excellence in product performance and compliance against international standards/directives. Work will also cover product updates according to the Engineering Change Process as part ofa continuous improvement program.

Work will be on site at Dover as part of a 6 strong team of mechanical design engineers addressing a number of development projects each comprising typically 5-6 engineers across hardware/firmware/mechanical disciplines.

Requirements to be eligible for consideration
Engineering based degree or an HND/ HNC in Mechanical and/or Production engineering being backed up by suitable experience.
Takes overall responsibility for delivery of mechanical design on assigned projects and supervising junior engineers as appropriate
Have experience of quickly and effectively designing mechanical parts to required specification, timescales and budgets.
Able to focus on design for manufacture and assembly, cost and performance targets ensuring the design meets its objectives within the processes defined by Megger's New Product Development framework.
Competent in selection of appropriate materials and solutions appropriate to project objectives and supply chain strategy.
Highly proficient in the use of a 3D CAD system (preferably Solidworks) for 3D part / assembly design and 2D detail component / assembly drawings.
A strong team player being able to communicate at all levels with colleagues and external suppliers.
Willingness to work flexibly and go the extra mile to achieve agreed deadlines.
Experienced in the design and use of concept models, rapid prototypes.
Familiar with: Electromechanical assemblies, Plastic moulded part design, (Injection, compression, vacuum etc), Sheet metalwork, machined parts, Production documentation (BoM's), ERP systems (preferably SAP), Engineering Change Control processes.

Strongly Desirable
A working knowledge of BSEN 61010 or similar safety standards.
An understanding of relevant aspects of electrical safety (clearance and creepage distances, material groups[CTI / PLC rating] and flammability ratings), and design for EMC compliance
Tooling/jig and fixture design experience.
Familiarity with FEA (Cosmos), Mouldflow, Stress Analysis and Flow Analysis tools and techniques.
Familiar with label artwork generation using CorelDraw.
Competent in use of PCB design tools for PCB layout (preferably Cadence Allegro)

Salary negotiable depending upon experience with relocation if applicable
