SQL Programmer (remote from the USA)

Description

We are seeking a motivated programmer who is looking to gain a lot of experience with many different types of systems. Minimum three years experience in programming required. Position requires good verbal and written communication skills.

Skills

Excellent Experience in SQLServer (2008 and higher)

Excellent Experience with SSIS

Experience with XML

Experience with a reporting platform, such as SSRS

Experience in documenting code

Experience in documenting procedures needed to maintain a system operationally

Knowledge of Oracle a plus

Knowledge of Microsoft Azure a plus

You will primarily be responsible for developing data-intensive systems. You should be able to communicate well and enjoy working within a team environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Reading and commenting on technical architecture and functional documentation

Reading data models

Programming

Develop unit test cases for modules and screens you create

When turning a function over to someone else for testing, ensuring that:

The module or screen can be navigated to, if applicable

No button clicks result in obvious error messages

The work substantially conforms to the specifications you were provided

Supporting other team members during systems and integration testing

Estimate the labor it will take you to complete work, such coding a module or function

Attending and contributing to technical meetings

Creating documentation (in code and in MS Word) describing how a program you wrote flows

Creating documentation (in MS Word) with the operational processes needed to run a system in production

Manage your documentation in the correct repository, as directed by the Project Manager

This position requires a B.S. or B.A. degree from an accredited university.

You should be someone who enjoys the challenge of learning many different systems and be able to move between handling issues in many systems throughout the course of a single week. You should be someone who has a passion for developing creative solutions to widely varying business processes and enjoys making those solutions come to life.

You should have experience in working in a telecommuting environment and working collaboratively in real-time with other people via IM and voice (e.g. Skype). You should have a dedicated and secure work space and have a good and reliable Internet connection. You should have experience in working with people that are located around the world in many time zones. We are a small but aggressively growing software consulting firm. We are headquartered in the NYC metro area but have offices and clients across the US and international.

This position is a telecommuting position. You can be located anywhere in the continental US but you must be able to work normal business hours in the Eastern Time Zone. You must be authorized to work in the US. Some travel may be required. This is a short-term assignment of three months.
