Description
Duties and responsibilities*Design, develop, assemble, modify and evaluate mechanical materials, components, assemblies and systems.
*Design pneumatics subsystems including small compressors, silencers, filters, accumulators, control valves, and electronic pressure regulators.
*Design small-volume fluidics systems including tubing, fittings, inert control valves, manifolds and filtration.
*Identify and procure appropriate OEM components.
*Create detailed GD&T fabrication and assembly control drawings.
*Work with local vendors for prototypes and with offshore vendors for production.
*Contribute to the creation and ongoing improvements of our design control processes.
*Provides support to other engineering team members in mechanical design and components selection.
*Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
*BSME or higher with a minimum 7 years of non-managerial mechanical design experience required.
*Prior experience with IVD instrument design in a controlled (FDA, ISO) environment a strong plus.
*Demonstrable understanding of mechanical engineering and documentation principles.
*Solid knowledge of design verification and validation philosophies and methods.
*Design experience of small-feature injection molded parts a plus.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effective technical writer and illustrator.
*Proficient with mechanical design, modeling and analysis software - SolidWorks preferred.
