Our client are looking for a Hardware / Firmware Engineer with experience of Embedded C Software and hardware design capabilities.
The primary responsibility is to design and architect new lighting systems based on an upgraded product line taking full project responsibility including hardware design, development and embedded software development. Primarily for use in LED lighting, remote controlled lighting systems and networked lighting.
They require an extensive knowledge of hardware design, Analogue and Digital with an extensive knowledge of embedded software design (C, Assembler). Knowledge of controls used in lighting would be advantageous.
Responsible for:
·New product development utilising both hardware and software design.
·Maintenance of existing software (Firmware) for control of LED lighting systems and power supplies.
·With other members of design team, creating the specification of software for all new products.
·Development of software required for lighting control
·Working with the design team to innovate new products to bring to market.
·Maintenance of program documentation
·Liaise with, and management of, subcontract suppliers of software services where applicable in legacy products.
·Provision of program information relevant to customer documentation as required
·Maintenance of records and security of firmware within product range
·Support for Special Projects requiring customised programming solutions
·Reliable and robust protected systems of programming control.
Desired Qualifications:
·Degree level qualification in Electronic Engineering with Computing Options or equivalent.
Experience: Key Skills:
The following skills and experience are considered to be essential for this role:
·A track record of successfully creating firmware for embedded systems programmed in `C`
·Good understanding of electronics as it affects the operation of control software
·Strong experience and knowledge of Hardware design and development (Analogue and Digital)
·Familiar with some or all of the following:
oAVR Studio Tools, C Compiler, GCC Assembler
oSVN (Subversion Numbering)
oComplete system design of a lighting control systems (experience gained in previous employment, at university or in personal projects)
oExperience and knowledge of LED technology for architectural lighting
oExperience and knowledge of DMX, RDM, DALI, RS232, LONWORKS, TCP/IP and/or other lighting control protocols
oCreating Apps for iPad, iPhone etc
oUse of Atmel microprocessor family for the control of electronic systems.
oDevelopment of software to ISO standards.
