Ruby Developer

Description

Planbox creates software solutions for agile project management. We are looking for a back-end developer that will lead the development of our Ruby back-end.

We are a small, cash flow neutral company that is well-positioned for rapid growth. Our small distributed (remote) team uses Planbox internally and we do not support IE8.

Planbox is a single-page web application. The backend is in Ruby (with a PHP legacy) and MySQL. The front-end of the app is in Backbone.js and CoffeeScript.

The candidate will be responsible for:

Deploying, maintaining and extending a decoupled front-end and back-end architecture.

Developing and maintaining a new REST API on the "new" Ruby back-end.

Maintaining and extending unit level and regression testing/QA.

Configuring and monitoring of servers.

Backup and disaster recovery planning.

Evaluating new technology and making recommendations for adoption.

Skills, experience and qualifications:

Excellent knowledge of RoR

Good knowledge of MySQL.

Good knowledge of PHP (can be useful when migrating a back-end from PHP to Ruby ;-) ).

Experience with Linux (...shell!).

Knowledge of server configuration, replication and management tools (puppet, chef).

Bonus: Experience with Javascript MVC framework.
