Description
A leading global financial solutions company, whose clients include top tier banks, broker-dealers and corporations, is looking to hire an experienced Unix Engineer with a strong knowledge of WebSphere MQ. The Engineer will be responsible for the MQ configuration and design and the ongoing support of the Unix / Linux / Solaris environments. They will also act as a consultant, overseeing the technical work performed by vendor teams within the UNIX arena.Key Tech: The proven ability to manage and operate UNIX / Solaris servers on a large scale, and experience of managing, installing, deploying and configuring WebSphere MQ.
Aside from the core technologies, a broader understanding of the following would also be desirable: VMware virtualisation products e.g. ESX / vSphere, Shell Scripting (bash / bourne / ksh etc.), understanding of veritas volume manager / solaris volume manager and SAN storage e.g. EMC or IBM
This role would certainly keep the engineer busy as the Company are looking for someone who can take ownership of the Unix/MQ environment. This is a highly autonomous role, and would be a chance for a passionate self-starter to demonstrate their capabilities and take ownership of the WMQ environment in a large, multinational financial services production environment.
