SUMMARY
The Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and testing FPGA firmware. This position reports to the Principal Engineer. The FPGA Design Engineer will collaborate closely with team members designing software and hardware to find the best system-level solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Digital design for the following functions


o Serial data interfaces
o Power switch control and fault protection
o Analog measurement collection interface
o Flight processor interfaces
  • Perform tests of hardware/software integration


o Unit-level
o System-level
  • Self checking test bench verification
  • Participate in hardware and software design reviews


REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in FPGA design
  • Strong knowledge of VHDL
  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Masters/PhD degree is an asset
  • Experience with Single bit upset effects and mitigation
  • Excels in innovative problem solving
  • Spacecraft control and data handling experience is a plus
  • Experience with Microsemi FPGAs is an asset
  • Experience with Low level board verification and test
  • Familiar with processor interfaces
  • FPGA requirement and functional specification documentation
  • Self-starter who works with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to adapt to change in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations under ITAR and EAR, applicant must be a U.S. citizen residing in the U.S., or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. ("Green Card" holder)
