The role is part of a major upgrade programme within the HTPT. The role requires an experienced in service engineer, desirable with an avionics background to look into the upgrades available to the project team and review how they will be supported and implemented and to review how the upgrade will be different to the current systems in order to support the business case for the upgrade. Therefore looking for someone with ILS, avionics, upgrades, business case support background.
Description:
The In Service Engineer provides support or leadership on the technical aspects of the in-service phase. They seek to apply engineering best practice, ensure that all stakeholders are effectively managed throughout the engineering activities, involve specialists as required and actively consider safety implications before making decisions.
Provide technical support through life to the User and other projects, involving and interfacing with Suppliers and specialists as required
Take responsibility to deliver delegated technical work packages, making sure that safety aspects are considered
Work with Users and Suppliers to ensure the overarching capability is realised to its full potential
Minimise and manage the risk to availability, whilst ensuring that the solution remains safe and fit for purpose through life
Manage the obsolescence of components, and ensure that the solution is properly disposed of (or terminated) when appropriate.
Key tasks and deliverables COP Review Note Support Strategy and supporting evidence Embodiment on contract Support straategy implementation
1. Developing the COP Support Solutions Strategy and Plans, working with the Support Solutions central team,and the HTPT In-Service Support team to ensure alignment with DES requirements, in particular to meet scrutiny requirements associated with a CAT B Project. This strategy and plan will need to be mature by Nov 14 in order to coincide with a major approvals point in the project.
2. Implementing the Support Solutions Strategy and any introduction into service issues (e.g Aircraft Document Set, Modification process, HIOS Change note to bring support into main in-service support contract (HIOS) etc).
3. Preparing the SoR for embodiment of the upgrades onto the fleet. This post will be the project manager for the procurement of the embodiment contract, working in close conjunction with the HTPT Fleet Planner to ensure the upgrades are embodied successfully.
4. Applying sound project management to carrying out the ILS and Introduction into service activities, including schedule, cost, and stakeholder management. Reporting progress. risks and issues regularly as a key member of the COP team.
5. Attending Programme Boards as required to present progress to Programme Director, Sponsor and DLOD owners as required. Work with DLOD owners as necessary (apart from Training DLOD which is part of a separate project) to ensure broad consideration of what will be required across MoD for the upgrades to be brought successfully into service.
6. As part of a programme, the post-holder will be expected to respond flexibly to assist in other areas of the project where priorities require it to preserve the timescales of the overall Programme. This may for example require writing business cases and SoRs for external technical assistance across the programme.
