Location: Berkshire
Rate: £300 - £320 per day
Duration: 6 - 12 months
I am looking for a Modem/Protocols Technical Expert. We're looking for an experienced and talented senior engineer to join a small advanced development team
The role will involve analysing cellular network issues, providing expert guidance on cellular issues and guiding issue resolution.
Job role:
You will need to have in-depth and hands-on experience of working with Qualcomm based smartphones, an understanding of network issues, protocol requirements and configuration of cellular behaviour using feature switches and NV configuration items.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Working within product development System Team at all stages of product development (from initial bringup, through development, to post sales support)
* Working with ODM partners providing Technical oversight for the Modem area ( configuration, resolving issues and defining test processes for new features).
* Providing expert analysis of RIL/Modem protocol logs.
* Discussing and resolving configuration and bugs in cooperation with ODM partners.
* Helping coordinate/setup testing capabilities for network and cellular issues.
* Communicating/summarising technical issues with non-technical audiences.
Skills Requirements:
* Extensive knowledge of GSM/GPRS 3G and LTE protocols
* Analysis of Modem logs to triage and identify possible root cause.
* Good working knowledge of 3GPP specifications.
* Understanding of 2G/3G/4G technologies, their interoperability and configuration
* Knowledge of Qualcomm modem stack, debug tools, and logging.
* Understanding of Android RIL and Telephony stack.
* Knowledge of Modem configuration options for customisation of behaviour (handover, low signal conditions)
* Experience of analysing network issues (location/equipment based)
* Familiarity with Network simulators as well as product live field testing.
* Experience of mobile product development cycle
* Understanding of HW/RF calibration issues.
Soft skills:
* Comfortable working within a fast-paced complex heterogeneous systems environment.
* Experience of working with mobile software development projects
