Development Engineer

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Composite Design Engineer with experience in aerospace to work for our client in based in Dorset.

Principal Accountabilities:

Design and development of complex composite aerostructures, both directly and providing oversight across internal/external work packages Lead the technical approach/input to the development of leading edge composites manufacturing processes and material selection. Development of Certification/Qualification Plans, Compliance Review and leading Design Review inputs both internally and with customers. Technical input to the business development team to secure new customers/products and further development existing relationships Oversight of externally sub-contracted workpackages to ensure technical and commercial compliance along with mentoring and technical support to junior members of the team Development and improvement of internal design governance/processes to ensure compliance with 2nd/3rd party requirements and deliver continued improvement

Qualifications:

Education to HND/Degree level in mechanical/aerospace engineering or similar relevant discipline

Key Technical skills:

The candidate shall have a design engineering background in the composites industry and ideally have experience of the design and/or stress analysis of composite components:

Essential.

  • Education to HND/Degree level in mechanical/aerospace engineering or similar relevant discipline
  • Excellent communicator with ability to engage with confidence at all levels internally and externally Thorough understanding of the design approach for complex composite components (methodologies, design/FE tools, verification/validation) Preferred
  • Awareness of military and civil certification requirements for aircraft structures, systems or components
  • Working knowledge of both traditional and new manufacturing techniques for fibre reinforced plastic and thermoplastic materials.

Core Areas of Knowledge & Experience:

What is Key to the role is a Composite Designer who has experience of Catia V5 working within Aerospace or Automotive Manufacturing.
