Purpose of the role:

To carry out Failure Mode Effect Analysis of Dynamic Positioned vessels in accordance with IMCA guidelines.

To carry out Failure Mode Effect Analysis of Flexilay, pipelay and cranes.

Carry out ship board FMEA proving trials and formulate detailed reports.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of marine control systems
  • A knowledge and understanding of basic engineering principles.
  • An engineering background preferably in Control or Instrumentation.
  • A good working knowledge of marine components, equipment and control systems.
  • The ability to read and understand schematic drawings.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks, produce accurate work and meet tight deadlines
  • Sound written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience of understanding detailed design and engineering work plans
  • Experience of DP Vessels



Desirable:

  • A good understanding of automation and control systems.
  • Sound commercial awareness
  • Experience with vessel audits / inspections.
  • Experience on DP vessels, Pipe Lay or ROV handling systems
  • Knowledge of pipelay or ROV systems.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To be responsible for preparing FMEA's of DP vessel electrical systems.
  • To be responsible for conducting DP Trials and reporting the results accurately
  • To liase with other team members regarding the development of FMEAs
  • To attend vessels and equipment suppliers and carry out inspections and tests on flexilay and other
  • automated control systems
  • To visit Clients and Suppliers as and when required.


£55 to £70k + Excellent Bonus & Benefits (depending on experience)
