Description
Our client is looking to recruit a Cost Engineer to their established team in Hertfordshire who will be responsible for providing estimates for product manufacturing and the necessary support activities from concept through development and industrialisation to aid a project team in bidding or in determining the price of product or service.
Accountabilities:
*Analyse product drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labour estimates to incorporate into Cost Brochure.
*Consult with personnel in other departments (eg Design, Manufacturing, Purchasing) to discuss and formulate estimates, resolve issues and understand changes/adjustments to cost estimates.
*Agree target costs with Design and Industrial leads
*Develop and agree effective estimating synthetics
*Apply appropriately, allowances, learner theories and risk assessments
*Assess cost effectiveness of products or services, by tracking actual costs relative to bids as a project develops
*Maintain cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures with a focus on cost savings where possible.
Skills and Knowledge:
*Educated to HNC/HND standard or equivalent
*A background in engineering/manufacturing is preferred.
*Experience of estimating/cost engineering is desirable.
*Relevant production life cycle experience is desirable.
*A sound appreciation of manufacturing processes is important.
*Able to communicate with all levels within the business both verbally and in writing.
*Strong analytical skills.
*Able to assimilate facts from a range of sources.
*Experience of managing/leading a small team is desirable but more important is the ability to motivate
/inspire others.
*Self-motivated with the resilience and tenacity to deliver results through others.
*Proficient in the use of MS Office Packages
