Description
We are looking for a passionate and talented UI Developer with a strong knowledge of HTML to work with our technical team to redesign and implement a Wordpress site as well as design and code email templates for use with MailChimp. There is the strong possibility of continued workflow, up to 20-40/hrs weekly, should there be mutual interest - these mall projects are test projects.
The ideal candidate would have an excellent/advanced working knowledge of both Wordpress and Mailchimp so that he/she can not only do custom design work but also all of the implementation, as our technical team is looking to this candiate to handle these 2 projects somewhat indendently. Demonstrating a strong knowledge of BEST PRACTICES in email marketing and design is a major, major plus! This particular email project involves designing a series of 5 emails that go out to a new member during his first week on the site to orient him to different aspects of the site and how to get involved (you could think of them like STEP 1, STEP 2, STEP 3, etc...in sent on a different day, and automated.
Requirements
- Experience with CSS/HTML; ability to provide architectural input on the layout of content and style
- Ability to follow direction and communicate in a constructive, effective manner
- Ability to work with a team of developers
- Experience with git/github; ability to create forks, merge code, and resolve commits in git
- Attention to cross-browser, cross-platform, and/or cross-device compatibility
- Familiary with web frameworks such as Django or Rails (MVC architecture); ability to build Django/Rails project
- Familiarity with MySQL
Part-time (5-20 hours per week), 30-day contract w/ potential extension

About the Company
The ActivPrayer Project provides education, training, and a social networking platform for people to perform some physical action (a sporting event, a workout, a hike, a fitness activity) for an intention greater than self. The intention could be a person or a cause. This is called an activprayer. In this sense, a race for a cure to cancer is an ActivPrayer, an athlete who dedicates a game to his mother is an activprayer, and a triathlon completed for a non-profit is an activprayer.
We are currently building a website to capture, track, and share the actions and intentions (activprayers) that people perform in order to raise awareness of the power of prayer expressed through action, and to inspire others to act for a greater purpose. Through this new site and its accompanying mobile application, our goal is to see one million ActivPrayers performed by the year 2017.
