A global leader in telecommunications are looking to add to their existing R&D team at their offices in Cork.
Seeking an experienced mid level engineer to help drive multiple prototype innovation projects. The candidate will assisst across small highly experienced teams to rapidly design & deliver working prototypes.
Essential skills/experience :
* 10+ years experience in software development (lead engineer) and 3-5 years experience for the java developers.
* High level of Java server-side expertise - multithreading, real-time programming, concurrency, IPC, servlets, memory management & performance tuning)
* High level of UNIX expertise - sysadmin skills, filesystem/network configuration, IPC, shell scripting, performance analysis & tuning using OS tools & metrics
* Strong RDBMS skills (DBA skills, physical database layout and design, relational schema database performance analysis & tuning) across multiple platforms e.g. Oracle/Postgres/Mysql/DB2/Sybase
* DWH design + implementation experience (dimensional modelling, Kimball methodologies, DWH best practices)
* Experience in building concurrent, distributed & fault-tolerant applications
* Network programming experience - sockets, TCP/IP, frameworks e.g. Netty
* Deep ETL/ELT experience on large-scale high-volume DWH deployments, with exposure to leading tools e.g. Datastage/ODI/Talend/Pentaho
* Administrative skills with at least one DWH (Teradata/Exadata/Netezza)
* Application integration experience - ReST APIs, servlets, application servers e.g. Websphere, message queues s e.g. RabbitMQ/ZeroMQ/Apache Kafka
* Familiarity with 'big data' technology landscape & stacks/distributions (Apache/Amplabs/CDH/HDP)
* Experience building, deploying & tuning a solution integrating multiple 'big data' technologies - Hadoop/HDFS,Spark framework, SQL-on-Hadoop(e.g. Hive/Impala/Shark), workload scheduling (e.g. Mesos/Yarn)
* Awareness & ability to evaluate & adopt emerging internet technologies
* Experience in benchmarking, troubleshooting and optimization of complex systems
Desirable :
* Understanding of wireless networking standards, protocols & network equipment (e.g. 2G/3G/4G/Wifi)
* C/C++/Scala experience, particularly real-time/multithreaded/distributed applications
* GPU programming experience - OpenCL/CUDA
* Experience with NoSQL data stores e.g. HBase,MongoDB,Cassandra
