Background:
My client, a large bank in Brussels, is seeking a SQL Server DBA (on Windows 2000 to 2012) to join the Databases team which is in charge of the management of Databases and Business Intelligence infrastructures.
The team takes care of the installation and configuration of the software as well as the support of the production and test systems. It also provides technical guidelines and participates in design reviews, working in close collaboration with project leaders and development teams.
As part of the team, you will ensure the stability, performance and security of the infrastructure and manage the software versioning and patching.
Tasks:
As a Database Administrator you will manage the MS SQL Server Database infrastructure to ensure the production stability, availability and security;
- Providing technical support for the database environment, including support of the production but also supporting the development and enhancement of applications;
- Helping to achieve a state-of-the-art environment that meets current and future business objectives, highest reliability and performance possible;
- Software installation procedure + configuration of the Servers;
- Release management;
- Upgrade/migrations of databases;
- Day-to-day administration of the infrastructure;
- Disaster recovery plans;
- Defining standards and guidelines;
- Security of SQL Servers;
- Replication of datas;
- Performance tuning;
- Assessment and implementation of new technologies and providing IT with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities;
- Provides and designs tools to assist in the management of the databases.
- Strong operational focus including security, patch revision control, performance management and tuning, high availability and licensing.
Important: There is a Watch Duty element to this role: you will participate in the watch duty rotation: launch support and maintenances during out of office hours will be required.
Skills:
Ideally you have proven experience (5+ years) with MS SQL Server (from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012);
OPERATING SYSTEMS: Windows 2000 to 2012;
Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012;
Integration Services 2005, 2008, 2008R2, 2012;
