For one of our projects at the European Commission we are urgently looking for a:
Oracle Solaris Expert
To:
Manage and optimize the system architecture including T2 and T4 Solaris11 servers, ZFS storage appliance and Oracle12g RDBMS
Environment:
The department has a portfolio of around 20 information systems used internally and externally including websites.
The systems are in different lifecycle modes, ranging from pure new developments to stable
systems in maintenance.
The information systems are hosted locally. The hosting infrastructure is running on 6
SPARC servers, complemented by twin NAS clusters. The operating system used is Solaris
10. Oracle 11g is used for the RDBMS. There is an ongoing migration towards Solaris 11 and
Oracle 12g.
The application/database servers are virtualised, which simplifies the whole infrastructure
design and daily technical administration task. Around 120 Solaris containers are running
today, for the ancillary services, development, test, training, acceptance and production
application servers and DB servers.
Emphasis has been put on security, which is a strong business requirement. Mechanisms are
in place to ensure high availability of the applications. The infrastructure is spread over two
mirror sites, with an asynchronous replication of the data and the servers (ZFS incremental
file system and Oracle Data Guard).
Tasks:
The tasks include the management and optimization of the system architecture including T2
and T4 Solaris11 servers, ZFS storage appliance and Oracle12g RDBMS.
The tasks include also those covered by the following local support profiles with Oracle
specific expertise: System Administrator, Database Administrator, Web Administrator,
Application Administrator and Security Consultant.
Your profile:
In-depth knowledge of Oracle Solaris systems and software.
In-depth knowledge of Java / Tomcat middleware on Oracle Solaris.
Skills considered as an asset:
Knowledge of Oracle DBMS.
Knowledge of NetApp Data OnTap.
Knowledge of EMC Networker.
