This position is responsible for developing network infrastructure and wide area telecommunication designs as deliverable for projects assigned, as well as assisting in the integration of enterprise network infrastructure and telecommunication components; the incumbent is responsible to insure that network and wireless designs meet specifications.

This role is responsible for integrating network, wireless, and telecommunication components into for an enterprise infrastructure to deliver business solutions and applications to a vast array of over 1000 network devices supporting 5,000+ end users. This person works on projects in excess of > $1m working with project teams across many different technical disciplines.

The Senior Network Engineer provides technical leadership to project team members, they create relationships with other departments like PMO and Application Services as well as business executives.

The incumbent formulates, proposes and recommends and presents network technology solutions to the most senior level. This position will also be responsible for insuring governance of network components within the budgetary cycle to insure proper technology refresh occurs as items are terminated from the depreciation schedule. Excellent technical accounting skills are preferred. This position is the most senior position within this group and requires the individual to develop peers' and junior staff members' knowledge base.

Performs initial strategic planning, evaluation, certification, and sets direction for all Network Infrastructures. Validates designs during testing cycles. Transfers knowledge as part of project deliverables. Leads engineering and other peer team members including budgeting and estimating projects. Shares knowledge and develops skills of team members through coaching and feedback.

Maintains and develops technical skills to keep current in network and telecommunications technology, along with troubleshooting skills for these technologies. Expected to maintain "senior knowledge" status on hardware expertise at all times.

Acquires and maintains knowledge of current policies, procedures and audit requirements. Communicates with intra and inter-department team members as required, as well as members of project management teams. Fulfills administrative and technical leadership duties as required.

Develop, support, and assist in projects for voice networks. Likewise, develops time estimates for tasks and activities.

Supports configuration, performance tuning, capacity planning, problem resolution, and user support functions for applications and systems.

Design, implementation and support of wireless technologies and security infrastructures.

Effectively able to diagnose/troubleshoot on various network technologies.

Initiates and maintains contact with vendor representatives and technical support regarding implementation of fixes and upgrades to meet reliability and availability requirements.

Setting design criteria for new technology (such as Voice Over IP) in voice strategies and/or replacement of Legacy equipment.

Analyzes, designs, and program viable solutions to somewhat complex business problems according to user specifications.

Leads (small to large) projects, including managing tasks and directing activities of 2-3 other internal and external systems developers and/or coordinate resources for field support.

Participates in system and acceptance testing procedures. Occasionally, personally tests and implements system changes using techniques that preserve system integrity.

Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.

Interacts with customers as required by project objectives.

Provides technical assistance to users and other developers when needed.

Perform additional duties as directed by the Manager of Infrastructure and Architecture.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering but will accept 10+ years of experience instead of degree with CCNP.

Related industry experience is preferred.

Experience:

Ten + years of industry experience including network, wireless, and telecommunications system integration and infrastructure design within a corporate IT environment following a project life cycle methodology.

Extensive experience with communication requirements for enterprise class network deployments/systems to large campus style locations. Cisco Nexus 7k and 5k experience highly desired.

Experience managing and maintaining F5 load balancers and Palo Alto Firewalls.

High degree of technical depth to enable high complexity enterprise infrastructures) with Telecommunication protocols/signalling, Telecommunication Hardware (preferably Cisco), and communication lines/Services (DS3, DS1, SONET, Etc).

Technical hands-on implementation experience delivering small and large, enterprise projects (

At least 3 years' experience designing and maintaining wide are file acceleration systems (Riverbed Steelhead is preferred).

Strong knowledge in IP and light server administration is preferred.

Some experience with VoIP, PBX's, Voice Mail Equipment (preferably Cisco Call Manager Express) and wireless deployments.

Effectively able to diagnose/troubleshoot on various technologies.

Proven experience documenting systems configurations, processes and procedures.

Ability to communicate with and understand the needs of non-technical constituents, both internal and external.

Willingness and ability to commute between Cleveland and Canton on an as needed basis
