Members of an award-winning K-12 educational technology company are seeking an experienced UI/UX design consultant with strong visual and technical skills to collaborate with the growing team of a new digital education startup focusing on the early childhood market.    This is a consulting position that may involve some work from our NYC but it's not a must, most of the work can be done remotely.  

Responsibilities
The role will involve:

  • Cooperating with the product development team, including: content experts, pedagogical experts, developers, and graphic designers to formalize design requirements
  • Contributing to ongoing design discussions
  • Advising on and/or creating refined and well-developed solutions that meet both user and business requirements, including: clear and operative user flows and wireframes, high fidelity visual mockups; and functional, responsive prototypes and supporting visual assets and production artwork to inform and validate design decisions
  • Collaborating on usability testing and user research, and analyzing user feedback to derive concrete and actionable design recommendations
  • Ensuring that development of the final, working product adheres faithfully to design specifications
  Qualifications
  • Expertise in designing compelling, creative, elegant digital products for the early childhood market, with an available portfolio of past work samples (both static and interactive)
  • Fluency with UI/UX best practices and principles of design for children ages 3-6 (preschool-kindergarten) with an emphasis on developmental appropriateness
  • Experience designing mobile apps a must, with web experience a plus
  • Experience working within the Agile development framework
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Creativity and passion for design
  • Top notch communication skills, both verbal and visual
  • Ability to translate feedback into practical, relevant solutions
  • Self-starter and team player with great interpersonal skills
