CNC Operator/CNC Programmer/CNC Machinist required for a world leading Defence and Aerospace Company based out of Farnborough for a 3 month initial contract. Candidates required to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Experience and Knowledge required

* Experience of programming and the operation of Heindenhain controlled CNC Mill as well as manual mills, lathes pillar drills grinders and general workshop techniques

* Experience in working in a mechanical workshop environment

* Knowledge of workshop H+S requirements and track record of safe working practices

* Ability to follow detailed drawing packs and instructions, control components and record traceability of tasks through the use of workshop procedures.

* Plans machining by studying, engineering drawings, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GDand T).

* Programs mills and by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional Switches; calculating requirements, including basic maths, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs

* Maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

* Willing to be flexible and work sometimes at short notice to meet customers expectations

* Mechanical hand tool and fitting skills.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge required

* A suitable engineering apprenticeship engineering eg MoD Apprenticeship (or similar)

* Experience of producing a very high standard of mechanical component and have been involved in fitting and or an Avionic Engineering background.

* Experience of programming and the operation of Heindenhain TNC426 controlled CNC Mill (specifically Bridgeport VMC 600 XP or similar)

* Knowledge of 3D CAD software packages ie SolidWorks, CAMWorks or GibbsCAM software.

* Assist with ordering of stock and components, anticipating stock Maintaining and filling in and recording using route cards

* Fork lift licences

* Slingers qualification for use of overhead cranes, using proper lifting techniques.
