Embedded, Testing, Safety Critical, IAR workbench

I am currently looking for 2 software test engineers to work on a brand new and exciting project that is in the initial stages of development. You will be testing low level embedded software in a safety critical environment.

Location: Bedfordshire (commutable Cambridge, Milton Keynes, Stevenage)
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 6 months +

Rate: £30-£35 p/h

The company are industry leading in their field and are developing a new optical product, in order to maintain their standing in their field.

You will be joining the client on a 6 month contract, which has a likely extension beyond that where you will be joining at the forefront of this project working on the full lifecycle.

You will join the V+V team and will have to quickly gain an understanding of the project and contribute to the demanding time frames in place.

Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in embedded C development and test for critical applications i.e. medical/ avionic/ automotive
  • Full understanding of the full life cycle of development, particularly with regard to embedded test.
  • Familiarity with software developed for embedded systems or supporting PC based applications.
  • IAR workbench for ARM Cortex and Visual Studio IDE
  • Knowledge of both functional and non-functional software testing using black box and white box testing methods for unit, integration and system level testing.
  • Verification of 3rd party software (e.g. RTOS, GUI middleware, device drivers, bootloaders/ firmware upgrades, LCD touch screens)
  • Verification of 'Startup' and 'Runtime' BIST.
  • Ability to write software test cases and software from scratch.
  • Ability to make software test protocols and software verification/validation summary reports from scratch.
    Ability to run the software test protocols
  • Familiarity with electronics hardware
  • Ability to use oscilloscopes, signal generators and multimeters.
  • Software version control, Defect tracking tools/methods for bug capture and reporting.


Desirable:
  • Recent experience of medical software lifecycle and standards
  • Experience of testing optical systems - including camera images and barcode data
