Description
Our client is looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to ensure the delivery of Control & Instrumentation (C&I) systems of a major project.
This is an initial 12 month contract based in Berkshire
Key accountabilities
*Warrant that the equipment and systems are safe and that sufficient information is provided to substantiate safety
*Demonstrate that all relevant system requirements are met
*Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, International Standards, National Standards and recognised best practice
Responsibilities
*To ensure the applicable Technical Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards are understood and implemented
*Carry out C&I design activities, identify and define the requirements for the systems for the project; to include:
>Ensure the C&I systems are fit for purpose and compliant with all local and international Standards and Legislation
>Ensure all C&I interfaces are identified and designed in accordance with other discipline requirements
>Assess technical submissions and answer technical queries from contractors
>Ensure compliance of contractor submissions with project requirements, design intent and standards and provide guidance to the contractor to achieve compliance
>Stand-alone C&I systems
>C&I systems within Process Plant and Equipment
>Building Services C&I systems
>High Integrity Control systems
>Assess the technical impact of changes to the design
Qualifications
*Internationally Recognised Professional Engineering appointment, eg Eur Ing. MIET
*Chartered Engineer preferable
Knowledge
*A good understanding of C&I engineering
*Understanding of how to undertake design and development of possible solutions
*Capability to plan and implement solutions, taking a holistic approach to cost benefits, safety, quality, reliability, appearance and environmental impact
*Detailed awareness of Project Delivery
*C&I design, analysis and review as applied in highly regulated environments.
*Designing nuclear or defence projects
*Knowledge and understanding of High Integrity (SIL-rated) C&I systems; including their design and substantiation
Experience
*Planning for effective project design implementation
*Reviewing C&I designs in hazardous and nuclear environments
*Designing nuclear or defence related projects
*Leading and directing a small team of in-house C&I Design Engineers
Skills
*Ability to evaluate solutions and make improvements as well as apply a creative problem solving approach
*Effectively present and discuss ideas and plans and negotiate solutions
*Able to make decisions based on information given or, where this is lacking, through consultation or sound technical judgement
