Chief OSS/BSS Architect - Mobile Telecoms
Contract
Dublin location with occasional travel
A global telecommunication company have an excellent opportunity to for someone to join them to shape the architecture on a next generation platform to support next generation OSS/BSS. They are looking for a capable Chief Architect to report into the Head of Development Centre, as you will be situated at their Research and Development facility leading a team of architect's.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and direct platform specification next generation operation platforms for service providers.
- Interface to HQ, senior management presentations and customer engagements.
- Strategic direction of technology adoption and portfolio realisation.
- Direct and manage architecture and proof of concept teams.
- Analysis of OSS/BSS & Services development trends to guide OSS/BSS planning.
- Discuss with customers on business requirements and present to stakeholders.
- Technology roadmap and innovation planning.
- Technical specification and technical reporting.
As Chief Architect you should be able to work closely with an open innovative ecosystem with their customers to address real-world issues, and also engage with European universities to build research capability.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master or higher degree in computer science, software architectures and/or communications or significant relevant industry experience.
- Significant background in the mobile telecoms industry years, with a good number of years of R&D working experience in data intensive architecture for event processing systems.
- Have worked in a technology leading role with Hands-on and can-do attitude.
- Excellent Knowledge in noSQL and hybrid data warehouse architectures.
- Proven track record in high performance computing architectures.
- R&D working experience in Internet infrastructure PAAS, SAAS companies and/or Tier 1 search and online retail providers.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure features or related O&M requirements, such as physical/virtual resource orchestration, system automation and self-healing.
- Knowledge of Data center networking or Internet Application platforms from leading global Internet player.
- Experience in cloud platforms development (VMware, Vsphere, AWS, Google App Engine).
- Expertise in the specification of API's to expose platform capabilities, from both internal development and B-2-B view point.
- Strong understanding of relevant business models and system requirements on virtualisation and multi-tenant systems.
- Strong interest and knowledge about industry trends.
Please note that a part of this role will occasionally require Worldwide short-term travelling.
