SAN Storage & Backup system Engineer

Skills Required:

  • Experience with management and administration of Storage Area Networks
  • Experience with management and administration of data replication technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of management and administration of virtualization of data via IBM SAN Volume Controller or comparable technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Backup Environments

Major Responsibilities/Activities
. Install, configure, and maintain production storage infrastructure (IBM's Enterprise Storage Subsystems, DS8000, SAN Volume Controller)
. Provide architectural oversight to storage devices and SAN infrastructure
. Experience with SAN fabrics, zoning and port configurations (Brocade 48000, DCX)
. Provide daily storage and SAN health checking
. Perform data migrations
. Provide management reports for storage environments
. Install and configure storage area networks
. Proactively monitor the production environment and identify potential issues
. Provide support in case of escalations and issues during and after the data migrations
. Act as a resource for Storage team; provide technical guidance

Job Summary
The Storage & Backup System Engineer will be responsible to support existing infrastructures and/or take ownership on storage projects. This position requires experience with storage area networks (SAN), Backup/Recovery environments and disk subsystems.

The Storage & Backup System Engineer will be supporting the storage infrastructures and/or projects; he/she will be the first point of contact during projects for the storage team towards system administrators; and he/she will proactively monitor the production environment driving issues to resolution.
