Description

The successful candidate will be expected to be able to demonstrate experience of, and give examples, making effective decisions. In addition a demonstration of commercial awareness is expected together with a demonstrable understanding of quality driven procurement practices. A clear understanding of the need to deliver value for money from procurement activity should be demonstrated.

Essential Experience:

-full graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS).

Ideally, post holders will be a full graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (MCIPS).

Your main Duties and Responsibilities:

Working within a commercial team to deliver programme objectives;

Supporting colleagues to achieve targets in relevant timescales;

Developing successful working relationships with external suppliers.

Contributing to procurement and contract strategies;

Compiling and issuing tenders;

Administering contract amendments;

Providing commercial advice and guidance to the wider business;

Ensuring all procurement activities are within budget;

Ensuring all activity undertaken is in line with government regulations and best practice.

You will be able to:

Run and deliver LEAN end to end strategic, high value, procurement projects to deliver the Department's key objectives whilst complying with all relevant Government, EU and Departmental policies and regulations.

Identify opportunities using spend analysis and market intelligence to develop procurement/category strategies and to proactively engage and manage the relationship with key DH suppliers.

Support Civil Service Reform by developing, managing and monitoring benefits realisation including commercial savings and sustainability outcomes.

Work with internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities to collaborate, achieve efficiencies and promote the procurement profession. Examples of internal stakeholders include the wider procurement team and DH Directorates. External examples include wider Health Family Arm's Length Bodies, Crown Commercial Services, suppliers, and other Government Departments.

Comply with Civil Service policies and procedures, including ensuring any requests for input into Freedom of Information Requests and Parliamentary Questions are handled robustly and accurately.

Take on other duties and responsibilities as appropriate to the grade of the role as required.
