Mechanical Design Engineer - Dundee - £25-32 per hour(Mechanical Design, CAD, Pro Engineer, Creo, Plastics, Tooling, Suppliers)
ROLE: Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION: Dundee
DURATION: 3 Months+
RATE: £25-30 per hour
This challenging position is to work as part of a small development team located in Dundee and supplier in China. A key requirement is to have deep understanding of designing molded plastic parts and working with the tooling supplier. It requires experience of design of mechanisms /mechanical for electromechanical devices.
The role will be responsible for creating design concepts and progressing these through to assembly and design validation.
Task Responsibilities
Evaluate different concepts and provide design recommendations
Creating cost effective and innovative design concepts
Create design packages ready for Supplier part production, specifically plastic tooling
Conduct Design reviews and gather cross functional feedback
Release packages using the approved system all relevant documentation
Work with Suppliers local and in China throughout project lifecycle
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of Mechanical principles and technology.
Key Experience Required:
- A Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Educated to degree level in an Mechanical or equivalent discipline, knowledge / experience in the following areas preferred:
- CAD (Must be Pro/Engineer, preferably Creo)
- A good understanding of mechanical drive systems
- Design of Plastic parts and worked closely with tooling provider
- Module/Product design
- Developing Release Packages, Assemblies and change control
- Must have a clear logical mind for problem solving and the ability of a quick learner
- Ability to work with cross functional team and distributed development team
- Clearly understand documentation and the ability to work solely on problems as well as within a team environment.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be willing to work to and set high work standards and be a good communicator
This is a 3 month contract with excellent extension possibilities and a flexible start.
