We are seeking a System Engineer to lead the system integrated product team for a new programme in the defence and intelligence domain. The role is a key technical leadership position within the programme. Successful candidates are expected to take full ownership of the requirements capture and management, system design including trade studies and the system sell-off and acceptance.
Main Duties:

The System IPT Lead will be responsible for the management of all system activities, from requirements to architecture and design to system sell-off. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of both internal and customer deliverable artefacts in support of customer system level milestones and the internal requirements of other IPTs. Prospective candidates will need to demonstrate a proven ability of managing system activities in a complex engineering environment and the ability to apply that knowledge at a "system of systems" level.

This position is primarily an internal facing role, but customer and end user interaction is expected through the need to chair meetings and milestone reviews. The successful candidate will interface with the programme and business area leadership to provide progress updates against budget, schedule and technical requirements.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

Proven experience of leading system engineering effort on complex projects, including the planning, tracking and controlling of systems project activities, Cost Account Management.

Disciplined and rigorous approach to system engineering and ability to ask challenging questions about the requirements and architecture of the system at each level of the hierarchy.

Proven experience in organising and leading major customer milestone reviews.

Knowledge of systems requirements management and object based design decomposition methodology and tools.

Experience of interfacing with customers and end users.

Experience of managing system engineering teams.

Experience in chairing internal and external meetings including CSB/CCB, Risks/Opportunities.

Track record of delivering work packages to cost, schedule and quality.

Ability to compile estimates and task lists with estimated resource requirements (people and equipment).

Experience of using metrics to present project status.

Degree in Scientific or Engineering discipline.

Willing and able to obtain the highest levels of UK security clearance.

Willing to travel abroad.
Desirable:

Understanding of the DCPD workflow.

Knowledge of security aspects and solutions, JSP440.

Knowledge of safety aspects, SP480.

Experience in system sell-off to military customers.

Experienced in presenting at all levels within an organisation.

Willing and able to obtain the highest levels of UK Security Clearance
