Position: Service Transition Manager

Duration: 6 months with possibility of extension

Rate: £525 per day

Field: Public Sector

Background:

Our client is searching for the right individual to provide specialist support to the Evolve Transformation Lead, the Evolve People Lead and the Operational Lead. You will have the responsibility for the development and management of a detailed transition plan.

The Transition Manager role is as follows:

-The Transition Manager will manage the transition phase of the project, coordinating all activities required to prepare for a smooth transition of MoJ Shared Services to SSCL ensuring business-as usual operations are not compromised.

-This will include systematic planning to reduce/mitigate any risks associated with the transition of technical and support services through to the go-live state whilst monitoring issues, performance and change.

-Transition focuses on operational services, people, support, business readiness and cutover planning.

You should only apply for this role if you have the following:

  • Highly experienced Transition Manager with experience of working in similar projects/programmes
  • Strong people & stakeholder engagement skills as candidate will be meeting with senior stakeholders across the MoJ
  • Strong planning skills and capability to translate information gathered from meetings/workshops into high-level plans
  • Previous experience of Oracle environment
  • Understand and use Oracle's AIM Methodology
  • Must have previous consulting experience
  • Willingness to travel to other locations when required (to Newport)

Key Tasks and Deliverables:

Take the lead in ensuring that all aspects of service transition projects are driven through to delivery; Design, implement & maintain robust transition plan(s) taking into consideration any business activities required to integrate new services into the 'business as usual' environment; Engage with all suppliers as required to complete production and approval of all service transition documentation; Determine the readiness levels of the department and exitingincoming suppliers and business users with regard to upcoming changes; Uncover readiness gaps and own action plans to close the gaps prior to go-live; Assess risks inherent in proposed transitions, to ensure any potential scheduling and performance issues have minimum impact on provision of other services; Ensure all relevant department functions are fully engaged in the process and committed to supply resources to complete the transition plan; First point of escalation for any issues or problems raised by the suppliers or business; Arbitrate in situations of conflict; Seek out and tackle issues that will prevent the delivery of business benefits linked to service transition.

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with the Government IT Profession and cross government IT policies.
  • Understanding of the Government and working in the justice system.
  • Understanding of the organisation's IT/Information Infrastructure plans, business objectives and some awareness of comparable organisations.
  • Familiarity with PRINCE2 project management practice.
  • Familiarity with ITIL.
