Job Title: ASTOR Reliability and Maintainability (R&M), Engineer (Contractor)

Location: Waddington, Lincolnshire

Summary of Role:

The ASTOR R&M Engineer (Contractor) will be responsible for the in- service support of the Sentinel RMk1 aircraft and assist Design Support Services with providing R&M data and reports to drive improvements in reliability and maintainability of both air and ground assets. Contributing to a reduction in the whole life costs as well as design/production costs is a key facet of this role.

This position requires a sound knowledge and experience of:

- R&M techniques/analysis
- Working knowledge of other ILS disciplines including, but not limited to, RCM.
- Experience on mid to large size transport aircraft, with a focus on military variants would be desirable.

The successful candidate will also be part of the growing Airborne Solutions Team which delivers aviation engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.

Main Duties:

The ASTOR R&M Engineer (Contractor) will be part of an expanding ILS department and report to the ASTOR Support Manager within the Design Support Services Organization of the ASTOR Whole Life Support Team. This role is ideally suited to an experienced R&M engineer with proven experience in both Military and/or Civil aircraft.
The role offers an exciting challenge in supporting the ASTOR programme with responsibilities for:

- FRACAS Database inputs/outputs.
- Performing AR&M analysis work, encompassing but not limited to LSAR, LORA and FEMECA.
- Representing Support Services/Attending Design Reviews.
- Support ILS activities.
- Fault/repair trend analysis and reports including recommendations.
- Supporting RCM activities as appropriate (JAP(D)100C-22 for Military Aircraft).
- Ensure that R&M contractual requirements are met.
- Familiar with the requirements of Military Reliability and ILS (DEF STANs 00-40, 00-41, 00-42, 00-43, 00-60).
- Reliability Predictions (MIL-HDBK-217F).
- Good communication skills with Customer and wider RSL team.
- Presentation of data and reports.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

- Degree or HNC/HND in an engineering discipline or equivalent.
- Demonstrable and recent professional experience within AR&M.

Desirable:

- Demonstrable experience as Systems Engineer.
- Knowledge and experience within ILS discipline.
- Knowledge and experience within RCM positions with major defence contractors.
- Aircraft engineering background.
- Thorough working knowledge of modern IT working practices.
- Holder of current SC security clearance.
- Proven track record of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, techniques/analysis.
- Ideally you will have experience in aircraft in a MoD environment and/or Customer support environment.
- Experience of ILS/LSA to Def Stans.
- Experience of RCM techniques.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows based software particularly Spreadsheet/Database manipulation and design.
