Prestigious Fortune 500 Company is currently seeking a Storage Engineer for a 4 month contract. Candidate is responsible for the design, implementation and support of storage infrastructure for the corporate datacenter and field locations. Also responsible for the coordination of moves, adds and changes for the corporate campus and field locations. Responsible for the provisioning of complex storage environments. Additionally, responsible for the update of management information systems, including asset management, time tracking and other systems. This position is also required to mentor junior level engineers as well as provide second level support for complex issues, problems or projects.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for working with the different business units to develop the engineering design to support the business and operational requirements for standard systems or enhancements to existing systems. Interacts in a professional manor during the project engagement.
2. Analyzes system performance, modifying parameters to improve throughput and effectively utilize system resources. Monitors resource usage, making required adjustments.
3. With administrative direction and assistance from management, leads the evaluation and selection of tools. Sets up product demos, and objectively evaluates tools. Coordinates the collection of feedback from other evaluators. Summarizes the input, makes cost conscience tool recommendations. May be responsible for the effective deployment of tools in the group. Sets up training classes and may function as a tool administrator, working with the vendor, internally coordinating product upgrades and fixes. Oversees or performs the installation and testing of upgrades working with the systems and applications teams.
4. Participates in on-call production support activities based upon documented support procedures. Proactively puts procedures in place to prevent and reduce the severity of outages under the guidance of Sr Engineers or Consultants.
5. Responsible for developing the organization by mentoring junior engineers and developing how to guides under the direction of the manager or consultant.
6. Responsible for accurately estimating and planning activities within the domain for individual tasks to provide the necessary input into the project managers for developing an end to end plan under the direction of the manager or consultant.
7. Pro-actively seeks out on the job training from senior resources to increase both technical and professional skills 
8. Coordinates activities with vendors as required.
9. Complies with all USIT policies, standards and procedures.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

5 to 7 years progressive storage platform experience
Demonstrated expertise in the design, implementation and support of complex storage infrastructures.
Expert understanding of data communication protocols focusing on TCP/IP.
Strong understanding of storage platforms in a corporate infrastructure.
Strong understanding of storage security practices and tools.
In depth experience with hardware and software based storage monitoring tools.
Bachelors Degree in a related technical field, or similar discipline.
Good written and verbal communications skills.
Demonstrated experience working with telecommunications companies.
Demonstrated competency in the use of project management tools and methodologies.
Ability to manage concurrent projects to plan.
Must have experience functioning as a lead on projects.
