Role Mission
Mission is to support back office domain of the global infrastructure in providing solutions to increase operational efficiencies in both the Storage domain and backup domain Storage domain is to be understood as covering concept and technologies part of Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Direct Attached Storage (DAS).

Scope & Background
Storage Administrator(s) must work within the standards governing the company's template with respect to configuration, development, testing, documentation and transport.

Support processes to be covered are:

" Incident Management
" Change Management
" Request Management
" Problem Management
" Capacity Management

On top of the standard support processes highlighted previously, the role shall also cover the following process as detailed below:

Continuous improvements
" Identification of cost reductions
" Promote repeatable proven processes within the Business and IS group.
" Support in the definition of KPIs, deliverables and or measures for services, processes and technologies.
" Root Cause Analysis and recommendations: regular review of incidents, categorization in actionable root cause groupings, recommendation for reduction/elimination of incidents.

Storage Administrator(s) will be expected to help frame new requirements from the business, to provide estimations as input to business cases, and in the event requirements are approved by appropriate governing bodies, document requirements in functional and/or technical specifications as required.

Principle Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce standards and processes development for Storage and Backup infrastructure services worldwide
Provide world class operational services to support and maintain the back office related services
Support Firmenich IT strategy by supporting new and existing services
Provide guidance and governance to other regions
Participate in the implementation of new services
Plan and follow the service, providing KPI's and reports:
" Propose and document operational guidelines, IS standard and Policies
" Review and audit operating procedures
" Enrich existing management systems, like CMDB, Service management tool
" Manage all equipment over current infrastructure
" Manage capacity
Support new product deployments with installation, integration, testing, documentation, and training
Assist in implementation of plans that enhance technical operation, compliance with rules and regulations, and permit the deployment of new technology and support them
Define and compile the methods of procedures and documentation to support in the maintenance and day-to-day operation of the Storage systems

Operational Activities
On top of the basic service responsibility to follow-up on service levels, service deliverables, quality improvements, cost improvements and resource utilization efficiencies, the Storage Administrator main activities are:

MAJOR ACTIVITIES
Storage Provisioning
Raid Groups management
Storage Groups management
Replication Manager related admin tasks
Configure/Manage data replication across storage arrays
Configure/Manage data replication within storage arrays
Thin Pool Provisioning (applicable for VMAX)
Managing FAST policies (applicable for VMAX)
Monitoring the warnings / events etc.
Incident, Problem and Request management
Change Management
Vendor Co-ordination for certain tasks like firmware / Enginuity code upgrade/Hardware replacement etc.
Performance management using tools provided
Capacity Management (Monitoring and Reporting)
Data replication monitoring
Hardware monitoring
Working with Unisphere, Navisphere, SE, SMC, SPA & ECC
License operations management
Documentation
MIS Reports
Infrastructure software source distribution and Media management
Change Management
All the administration tasks associated with switches
Vendor Co-ordination
Fabric OS management
Performance management using tools provided
Capacity management
