FPGA Design Engineer

The Role

This contract is for a VHDL FPGA Design Work Package Owner. Reporting to the Firmware team leader and working closely with the Project leadership, you will take responsibility for execution of a project FPGA Workpackage on schedule and to required processes and standards so as to achieve the DO-254 approval required for flight release.

This will involve supervising/coordinating with a Design Team, a Verification team leader, and an external design house.

Responsibilities will include schedule definition, progressing and reporting; monitoring and reviewing output of engineers to ensure in line with DO-254 plans and procedures; and passing all required FPGA process reviews and internal/external audits.

Basic Qualifications:

Required Skills:

- Proven experience of successful team leading/coordinating.

- Strong FPGA background experience, including FPGA specification, VHDL code design, simulation and synthesis.

- Attributes including proactive style, team spirit, high energy level, positive outlook, commitment to deliver with appropriate diligence, good problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills.

The individual may be asked to work long hours (eg some evening and weekend working).

Non-essential but beneficial skills:

The following are not essential requirements for the job and you will not be discounted if you do not have them, however if you do then please highlight as it may be advantageous to your application.

- Team leading experience gained on an FPGA-related workpackage.

- FPGA experience in a DO-254 environment or similar standards (eg space, nuclear or rail).

- Familiarity with Requirements Management (preferably DOORS)

- General experience in a Aerospace design environment, or similar.
