We are currently recruiting for a Senior Capital Projects Manager for a long term contract position based in the Wigan area.

The purpose of the role is -

  • To motivate and lead a team of Project Managers to deliver a portfolio of projects.
  • To provide leadership of business critical projects, management of project plans and multi-disciplinary project teams to time and budget.
  • To develop business cases to justify Capital expenditure with comprehensive analysis of the project scope and alternatives.
  • To manage the procurement, installation and commissioning of Capital Projects for New Product Development, EHS, Legislative, Replacement & Benefits driven projects
  • To manage Health and Safety associated with engineering and construction projects
  • To develop detailed specifications for process/equipment
  • To develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure delivery of projects to time and budget
  • To develop and maintain engineering standards with reference to appropriate legislation and British/European standards
  • To provide technical expertise in food process engineering, delivering safe and robust systems which ensure product integrity and quality
  • To develop strategic plans to support future growth and operational flexibility
  • Provide technical expertise for the business outside of the Capital Projects team as required.

Key skills -

  • Experienced engineer with a thorough knowledge of proven and advanced technology and with the ability to apply that knowledge practically to ensure competitive and innovative advantage and should bring an overall creative approach to engineering within the Company.
  • Recognition as an expert in the field of Food Process Engineering.
  • Ability to integrate technical service demands, which often come without warning and require immediate attention, with planned project work.
  • Excellent organisational and influencing skills.
  • Highly competent oral and written communicator.
  • Computer literate.
  • Sound knowledge of food science and hygiene in order to manage project teams involved in the implementation of new processes, to ensure that they meet both Company and legislative requirements.
  • Ability to identify engineering solutions which meet the Company's need to maintain or increase competitive advantage, support long term manufacturing strategy, improve profitability, and provide opportunities for future strategic business decision making.
