Description

We’re looking for an experienced and ambitious PHP developer to join an exciting Internet startup in the healthcare industry. Long term, this role will potentially turn into a head of technology/CTO appointment for the right candidate. This is a full-time role, ideally permanent.

THE COMPANY:
Our goal is simple: we want to revolutionize the way people access healthcare and we’re in the process of building the elite team that will help us fulfill this vision. Having secured our first round of investment earlier this year, and having launched the Beta version of the site over three months ago, we are now actively seeking an experienced PHP developer in order to develop and release the next version of our platform, built on a bespoke integration of WordPress and Magento.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The developer must be based – as well as eligible to work – in the UK (Greater London ideally), and expected to work from home for the foreseeable future. Regular status meetings with the board of directors are to be expected, in person (Central London) or remotely (e.g. via Skype/Join.me).

REQUIREMENTS:

You MUST have (mandatory):
  • Proven experience in the e-commerce industry
  • At least 5 years experience working with the LAMP stack
  • At least 3 years experience in front-end development skills (CSS3, HTML5, Javascript/Ajax…)
  • At least 3 years of hands-on WordPress experience
  • At least 2 years of hands-on Magento experience
  • Experience working with version control systems (preferably git)

  • You COULD have (desirable):
  • Experience in developing modules/extensions for both/either WordPress & Magento
  • Experience in developing mobile optimized web interfaces
  • Practical knowledge of web accessibility/WAI standards and best practices

  • You are:
Self-motivated and self-driven (we’re a busy lot, so we expect you to just crack on with it)
Able to take the initiative and go the extra-mile (outside-the-box and pragmatic perfectionism most welcome)
Proud of your work and ensure what you build actually works (because YES, functional testing is part of a developer’s duties)
