Core Tasks and Activities The principle responsibilities for this position will be: *Responsible for the day to day management activities of the vessels under his/her care including all aspects of maintenance, cargo care, budget control / purchasing and safe manning ensuring compliance with Company policy, SMS, PMS and Business Manual. *Operational supervision of assigned vessels dealing with navigational standards, cargo / ballast transfer planning and management. *Technical supervision of assigned vessels, dealing with routine and non-routine maintenance and repair (M & R). *Supervision, development and appraising of assigned superintendents *Correspondence with owners and charterers *Manages ship inspection program ensuring SI attendance of vessels world wide to monitor condition, effectiveness of policy, procedures and safety programs. *Monitors perfomance of the vessel at sea and in port acccording to tcp and includes optimisation of berthing and mooring operations. *Prepares vessel-operating budgets and controls operating costs within agreed budgets. *Ensures major repair specifications prepared timely and in according with owners instructions.*Administers guarantee claims on ship builders. *Reports monthly Planned Maintenance activity. *Response and follow-up to vessels technical correspondence. *Administers hull and machinery insurance claims. *Ensures statutory and Classification Society surveys conducted within window. *Liaises with Fleet Personnel on selection sea staff. *Develops and Appraises Superintendents *Interviews, briefs/debriefs and appraises senior sea staff. *Carries out risk assessments, accident / incident investigations and prepare reports. *Sets goals, maintains KPI's, identifies improvements and management of change processes *Chairs team meetings, attends weekly operation, monthly management meetings and management review meetings.. *Member of the emergency response team
