Description

Over the past 10 months we have been hard at work on a night/bar scene app for iOS that does a lot of unique things, and would be the first of it's kind in the app store. Only recently have competitor apps begun to pop up, but neither come close to the feature-list we are offering for version 1.

If you enjoy a good beer and discovering new bars around you (and a lot more), than this project is for you. We need a seriously kick-ass developer who will be as much of an extension of the team as they are devleoper. You need to be fast-paced, detail oriented, and highly skilled.

Some requirements:

- Experience building location-based apps / MapKit
- Experience with the Google Places API is a plus
- Experence with push notifications (we are currently using UrbanAirship to power push notifications)
- Ability to work with our php + mySQL database (which handles accounts and some minor backend processing)
- iOS 7 + iOS 8 development
- Willing to sign an NDA for full project details / background

Here's where we currently stand and what we need:

Immediate Needs //
- Version 1 is essentially complete. We submitted for approval, which Apple rejected for metadata issues because we are using location services in the background at all times. There are two ways to fix this: either using geo-fences instead or implementing a feature we previously had (which still exists in the code but just needs to be re-enabled and fine tuned) which would allow us to pass a fully valid reason for location services running in the background.
- One additional item added to another API (just pulling in number of reviews and displaying them on the front-end, from the Yelp API. This is for a specific page / feature of the app that will be detailed further upon request / signing of NDA).

Long-Run //
Down the road (in a month or so) we are looking to begin work on version 2 - which features a much improved design and some additional features (many geared more toward social features).

Budget and Availability
We have been over-budget for many months because of how long it has taken to get us to this point (where 2 very recent college grads and 2 college seniors trying to fund and manage a major project), and for the remaining issues to get version 1 approved and in the store we have no budget available. Instead, we will give you 5% equity in the project itself (if we deem you the right fit for the project going forward as a true addition to our team), and when you hear the full details and scope you will love the potential this app has. In addition, as soon as we are able to get version 1 in the store we will launching a Indiegogo campaign to fund the development of version 2, at which case we will be using all funds to pay for the development of Version 2. We are extremely confident in our ability to raise plenty of money to make this well worth your time.

If you want to be involved in a unique and fun app that is currently an inch away from the finish line, please join us.

When applying, please express that you understand all of the above and demonstrate you actually read the above description. Canned responses will be ignored.

Please respond with:

  • Samples of past work. Additional points for work that relates to location and shows the use of a backend to pull in information.
  • LinkedIn Profile and/or full CV

Note:
Only U.S. and Canadian applicants will be considered. We are looking to work with relatively local developer(s) only. We are based in Rhode Island.
